Professor Fang Wu of Xiangya Second Hospital Invited to Deliver Invited Speech at Asia-Pacific Thoracic Oncology Conference

On April 25, 2026, the Asia-Pacific Thoracic Oncology Conference was held in Hong Kong, China, hosted by the Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Society of Medical Oncology (HKSMO). As one of the premier academic conferences in the field of oncology in the Asia-Pacific region, the conference brought together young scholars from countries and regions including China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan regions), Japan, South Korea, and Singapore for in-depth exchanges on regional research collaboration.

Professor Fang Wu from the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University delivered an invited presentation entitled “Emotional Distress and Cancer Immunotherapy”. Professor Wu systematically elaborated on the impact of emotional distress on the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy and explored potential strategies for optimizing immunotherapy outcomes through emotional intervention. In addition, she called for strengthened multi-center collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region and joint efforts with young scholars to advance original clinical research.

As a corresponding author, Professor Fang Wu has published papers in journals including Nature Medicine and invited commentaries in Lancet Oncology and Journal of Clinical Oncology. In recent years, Professor Fang Wu has achieved remarkable accomplishments in international academic exchanges and cooperation. She has been repeatedly invited to deliver invited or oral presentations at renowned international academic conferences, including the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the Annual Meeting of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), and the World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC).

Professor Fang Wu serves as a member of the Stage and Prognosis Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), participating in the development of the AJCC TNM Staging System for Lung Cancer international guidelines. She also holds the position of President of the Sino-American Visiting Physicians Association, continuously promoting international cooperation and academic exchanges and demonstrating the academic influence of Chinese scholars.
